In the battle to win hearts, minds and limited attention spans, TikTok and Instagram Reels have emerged as formidable contenders in a world raving for quick, fun video content.

But which one should you choose for your brand?

Tried and True: The Case for TikTok

If you stop to think about short-form video content on social media, TikTok is probably the first app that comes to mind.

This fun, easy-to-use app came to the United States in 2018, but if you’ve been on any of the social networks in 2020, you can see that TikTok blew up during quarantine from all the TikTok videos people have been sharing on other platforms. The app’s popularity during this bleak time isn’t surprising, since it adds something a little different (and very fun) to people’ regular content rotation.

Whether you like cooking videos, comedy, fashion, short films, music, or learning new dances, TikTok has something for everyone. There’s a niche for everything, and the more you interact with videos on the For You page (a continuous video stream of content), the more TikTok’s algorithm seems to learn your interests and suggest content tailored to what you like.
